Early June 2026. Gofman is sworn after a long legal fight. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s public charge — as reported — is that the Iranian regime should ‘pass from the world.’ Career Mossad officers did not choose this outsider.

April reporting said Gofman shared a view that war could topple the Islamic Republic. It has not. A failed collapse thesis is either a problem or a loyalty test. The first written product tells the building which.

Define Israel’s political end-state toward Iran. That is a cabinet and prime-ministerial act.
Operate as a career Mossad insider. Gofman took office on 2 June 2026 from the Israel Defense Forces after a contested appointment.
Ignore residual legal constraints: the senior-appointments committee, the High Court, and the Attorney General’s office remain part of the Israeli state.

The director is appointed by and reports to the Prime Minister. There is no Mossad statute comparable to the ISA (Shin Bet) law.
