Leadership Seat

How the trees are built

Leadership Seat is for political science students, professors, and anyone who wants to rehearse judgment under real constraints. Each seat is a dated office with two playable historical cases. You choose among forks the office could take. The tree then shows what the office can do, what it cannot, and who can block a decision. After a path ends, a short note describes how you used the office.

Every scenario is labelled historical reconstruction, plausible counterfactual, or composite teaching case. Primary quotes come from the public record. When a fact is disputed in open sources, the interface says so.

Copy is written in plain technical English: short sentences, named actors, and real jargon with the acronym expanded on first use. Intelligence seats stay at policy and oversight level. The Iran seat treats wartime succession and visibility as institutional problems, and marks health and command claims as disputed.

Content lives as typed TypeScript modules under /content so it can be audited like a reading packet. See the README for how to add a scenario.

Seat cards show the officeholder. Photographs are official government or organization portraits with a reusable license, or Wikimedia Commons files. Where no such portrait exists, the card shows the institution’s emblem. A credit appears on the seat page, and on the card when the license requires it.
